Sarah: Why did you decide to write this book, “The Overall Picture of Human Consciousness”? K.P: I wrote another book prior to writing this one, entitled “Unlock the Mystery of the Mind,” which talks about my spiritual awakening experience and how I overcame depression. After I finished with that one, I still felt the information was incomplete so I began writing this one to give a more complete picture of consciousness.
Sarah: Have you always been a spiritual person? K.P: No, I did not like religion when I was young, and when I got older I found religious people to be rather narrow minded. I wasn’t even aware that there was such thing as spirituality.
Sarah: How did you discover spirituality? K.P: Like most people I discovered it through suffering. For a long time, I suffered from depression and did not know how to overcome the feeling of despair.
Sarah: Were there certain events that caused you to be depressed? K.P: There wasn’t a particular event, but when my younger brother died, it made me feel worse. I felt depressed mainly because I was unhappy with myself and dissatisfied with everything around me.
Sarah: What was your turning point? K.P: There was an incident where I was able to observe my mind in a neutral manner. I was at a party, and there were these two teenagers, who were horsing around and they hit me hard in the head. Naturally, I got really upset, but instead of chasing after them, I began to observe my own irate feeling. I was fascinated with how fast my heart was throbbing and how tight my whole body was. It’s like stepping outside of your own mind or body and watching your emotion from a third party point of view. After observing it for awhile, I noticed the calmness in my mind and the feeling of anger went away. This gave me my first insight. If you can watch your own rage in a neutral manner, it will disappear by itself because you’re not feeding or nourishing that particular emotion; therefore, it withers and dies in that instant.
Not long after this incident, I discovered a book called the “Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle, and he was talking about the same thing (watching your mind), which inspired me to take up the practice of meditation.
Sarah: How did you do your meditation? K.P: I looked up several methods on the internet and tried many different ways. The idea of meditation is simply to relax, be in the present moment and get into a neutral state, where you can observe your mind without judging, interpreting, labeling or reacting to it. To keep my focus on the present moment, I would use my breath as the focus point so whenever my mind wanders off to think of something, I would pull my attention back to the breath, which allows me to let go of the thought. Of course, it was difficult to do in the beginning, but after awhile through consistent practice, I became quite good at allowing, letting go and being in a relaxing state.
Sarah: Did the awakening experience happen soon after that? K.P: Two weeks later I had an amazing experience, where my mind was in a state of incredible bliss. It actually scared me because the feeling was so extraordinary out of this world that I did not know what was happening to me. In fact, I stopped doing meditation for a week. After awhile I began to miss the practice and realized that I did not need to fear the wonderful feeling of happiness. I picked up the practice again and have never stopped since.
Nine months later, I had a big break through, where I was able to gain insight into everything I’ve ever wanted to know. Whatever I asked, my mind could answer it with such remarkable clarity and able to explain how reality actually works, which was amazing to me. This made me realize that the answers to everything really exist within us.
Sarah: So, it came easily to you then? K.P: I would say it’s neither easy nor hard. It’s more of a skill that anyone can train their minds to do to expand their consciousness. Through letting go of negative emotions, it lifts the veils that cloud your mind and judgment. Once you have clarity, it’s easy to gain insight into how everything works.
Sarah: You’re suggesting that anyone can do this. K.P: Yes, absolutely. Anyone can do it. Through exploring your own consciousness and what you’re afraid of, you will lose the limiting beliefs and gain tremendous emotional freedom and discover who you truly are as the result of your own practice.
Sarah: Are you free from negative emotions? K.P: I have emotions like everyone else, but because of my training, I’m able to let go of stress so I always feel at peace in the present moment. In fact, inner peace is our natural state of being, but most people are so used to the fluctuating state (emotional rollercoaster), they think that’s the norm.
Sarah: Inner peace probably doesn’t sound very exciting to most people. It’s a difficult product to sell. Why should they try meditation and go for clarity? K.P: Inner peace doesn’t seem thrilling to most people because they haven’t yet had the awakening experience. If they did, they would know that inner peace goes beyond excitement because it expands your consciousness immensely where you get to experience infinity. Now that is something the ego mind cannot do because it’s very limiting in its view.
I’m not trying to convince people of anything. My job is simply to remind people of who they truly are (infinite beings) so they can discover the answers within themselves.
Sarah: Why meditation and not some other methods? K.P: There is really nothing special about meditation. It’s just a neutral practice and it teaches you how to be objective. However, it’s crucial for us to approach it in this way because as humans our minds experience stress and create negative emotions; therefore, we unknowingly carry around this emotional baggage (fear & misunderstanding) with us throughout our lives. We tend to see things only from our own points of view, which makes it difficult for us to be objective about anything. By practicing meditation, it helps us to open up our minds and look at things differently from a wider perspective.
Sarah: And this will help us to gain insight? K.P: Yes, definitely. As your practice mindfulness meditation and become more aware of what’s going on within, you will begin to recognize how consciousness actually works. By practicing it, you’re teaching yourself to relax your mental state, clear your mind, let go of the resistance to inner peace and gain insight & wisdom in the process.
Sarah: What were some amazing insights that you were able to access? K.P: One day when I was in a state of clarity, I asked myself how consciousness or the universe is created. Without thinking, my mind started to show all these different components (vibrations) and how they were assembled to create the physical reality that we experience. This information was quite profound.
You see, this type of knowledge is already available to everyone in their consciousness if they’re willing to expand their minds by letting go of their mental blocks such as negative emotions, limiting beliefs and the narrow view of life. Once they do that, the information will become apparent to them.
Sarah: You also have insight regarding the process of birth and death. Can you tell me what happens before we are born and after we die? K.P: Yes, but it doesn’t work the way we think... (Read more of it by signing up for the Mind Expansion Course)
