Insight into the Human Mind

Question: Why are we afraid of death?

Answer: Because we think it’s the end of us. Humans are always afraid of the unknown. As you can see from the documentaries below and the people who have had near-death experiences, death is not the end at all. Your consciousness continues to experience reality after death. Life After LifeLife After Life
In Life After Life Raymond Moody investigates case studies of people who experienced “clinical death” and were subsequently revived. This classic exploration of life after death started a revolution in popular attitudes about the afterlife and established Dr. Moody as the world’s leading authority in the field of near-death experiences. The extraordinary stories presented here provide evidence that there is life after physical death, as Moody recounts the testimonies of those who have been to the “other side” and back — all bearing striking similarities of an overwelming positive nature. Evidence of the AfterlifeExploring Near Death Experiences
Evidence of the Afterlife is by far the largest scientific study of NDE ever presented, and is based on researching over 1300 NDEs shared with NDERF. This book is scientific in content, yet easy and a delight to read. The people whose stories are presented span all age groups, races, and religious affiliations and come from all over the world, yet the similarities in their experiences are as awe-inspiring as they are inexplicable. Using this treasure trove of data, Dr. Long explains how medical evidence fails to explain these reports and why there is only one plausible explanation—that people have survived death and traveled to another dimension. Pam ReynoldsNear-Death Experience
Pam Reynolds Lowery from Atlanta, Georgia was an American singer-songwriter. In 1991, at the age of 35, she had a near-death experience (NDE) during a brain operation. Her NDE is one of the most notable and best documented in NDE research. During "standstill" operation, Pam's brain was found "dead" by all three clinical tests - her electroencephalogram was silent, her brain-stem response was absent, and no blood flowed through her brain which left her clinically dead. Interestingly, while in this state, she encountered the "deepest" NDE of all. She made several observations about the procedure which later were confirmed by medical personnel as surprisingly accurate. (Watch)

For 30+ years Dr. Rev. Allen had been a successful businessman and private investment banker founding his own firm that expanded from its Seattle head office to the UK and to continental Europe.

In 1993, Rev. Dr. Allen experienced what is commonly called a near death experience, a truly life changing event for anyone but an event that profoundly changed the direction of his own life. In this new context he applied the skills and talents given and reviled to him for all persons poor and under privileged where he found them. (Watch)

Jill Bolte Taylor Scientist had a NDE, and Explains Consciousness Expansion Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another. (1, 2)

Near Death Experience And SuicideNear Death Experience And Suicide
A woman talks about her near-death experience that occurred following a suicide attempt. She had the typical out-of-body experience and watched her physical body from a short distance. She then met a being of light who is her spirit guide and also had a life review. Her NDE was very positive and pleasant, not unlike the NDEs that didn't result from suicide attempts. (Watch)
Neale Donald Walsch's Near Death ExperienceNeale Donald Walsch's Near Death Experience
Death is a great illusion. The soul simply changes form, and life is eternal. Life goes on forever. In fact there are two lesson that he taught me. He said, if you take these two lessons, everything else in your life will make sense suddenly and you'll have no more worries. These two are quite simple -- life is eternal, and we're all one. There's nobody in the room but you in various forms. (1, 2 )

NDEThe Day I Died: The Mind, the Brain, and Near-Death Experiences
Recent studies of cardiac arrest survivors suggest that near-death experiences may occur at times when the brain has actually stopped functioning. Drawing conclusions from that research, The Day I Died dares to suggest that the mind is not dependent on the brain -- and that NDEs may confirm it. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

Near Death Experiences - Dr. Pim van LommelNear Death Experiences - Dr. Pim van Lommel
As a cardiologist, Pim van Lommel was struck by the number of his patients who claimed to have near-death experiences as a result of their heart attacks. As a scientist, this was difficult for him to accept: Wouldn't it be scientifically irresponsible of him to ignore the evidence of these stories? Faced with this dilemma, van Lommel decided to design a research study to investigate the phenomenon under the controlled environment of a cluster of hospitals with a medically trained staff. Vicky NoratukA Blind Woman's Near Death Experience
Vicki was born blind, her optic nerve having been completely destroyed at birth because of an excess of oxygen she received in the incubator. Dazed and disoriented I felt myself leave my body through my mouth. Time still seemed stretched and elongated. I was rising into the air, above the street, confused. I saw my body briefly. There was an uncertain moment when part of me wanted to go back into it, but another part of me felt so neat being out! Then I returned. It was like returning to your house when you forget something. I don't remember the trip to Harbor View Hospital.

Through the Wormhole- Near Death Experience ExplainedThrough the Wormhole- Near Death Experience Explained
Due to his lifetime spent studying neuroscience, Dr. Alexander’s miraculous near-death experience provides dramatic proof of the reality of life beyond death. Prolonged severe bacterial meningitis is the perfect death experience to model human death, because of its selective destruction of the human part of the brain (the outer surface, or “neocortex”). However, virtually no one who is comatose for a week due to acute bacterial meningitis lives to tell the tale. Dr. Alexander is miraculously blessed, indeed! (Watch)

Thomas Mellen Benedict Thomas Mellen Benedict

Curious about the universe, he was taken far into the remote depths of existence, and even beyond, into the energetic void of nothingness behind the Big Bang.

Mary Jo RapiniMary Jo Rapini
The near-death experience story is so common that it has become a bit of a cliché: A medical patient, hanging in a murky limbo between life and death, is drawn through a tunnel of bright light, meets their maker, and is told they must return to the land of living. But that scenario played out letter-perfectly for Mary Jo Rapini. (Watch)

Insight into the Human Mind

Question: While most of these documentaries show positive near-death experiences, why do some people experience hellish visions?

Answer: When your consciousness leaves your physical body when you die, you encounter your own mental state. If your state of mind is relatively neutral, you tend to have a positive experience because your mind is non-judgmental, which allows you to experience inner peace and unconditional love. However, if your state of mind is judgmental, fear arises in your consciousness. As the result of that, the mind produces a hellish vision, showing its own negativity (fear). The good news is you can change it, but it takes self-awareness to realize that your mind is creating it. Once you can relax your mind, the hellish vision will disappear and you can have a positive experience.

Question: Why do some people interpret the white light that they see and feel during near-death experience as a religious figure such as Jesus?

Answer: That depends on the individual interpretation based on their cultural belief. The white light simply represents the core of their consciousness. This core consciousness is completely non-judgment; therefore, it exudes unconditional love and acceptance of who you are. It’s pure loving energy. To make sense of this experience, the individual assigns a meaning and gives a name and face to the energy so some would interpret it as Jesus, God, Buddha, Allah and so on.
