HOW CAN WE LIBERATE OURSELVES FROM THESE NEGATIVE EMOTIONS?
We need to train the mind so we can go from lower to higher
consciousness. These negative feelings do not exist in higher
conscious state because it doesn’t judge. Here the mind
is completely content. It’s contentment with insight
and wisdom. You experience immense happiness beyond description.
True happiness is independent and unconditional. When you
discover this, you experience your TRUE SELF (NO EGO), and
your motivation comes from kindness and compassion.
Lower consciousness or the ego is our FALSE SELF. Its motivation
comes from selfishness which is based on fear (survival instinct
of fight or flight). It can only experience conditional happiness.
For example: When people are asked the question
“Are you happy?” and they answer “yes.”
They actually mean conditional happiness. They are happy as long
as they have their health, job, money, etc. As long as these conditions
are favorable, they’re happy. But as soon as these conditions
change in the opposite direction such as losing their health, job,
or money; they now feel miserable.
So, the solution to the problem of stress (negative emotions) is
to move from lower to higher consciousness.
SINCE WE USE LOWER CONSCIOUSNESS FOR SURVIVAL, WOULDN’T WE
LOSE THE ABILITY TO SURVIVE IF WE WERE TO BE IN HIGHER CONSCIOUS
STATE ALL THE TIME?
Actually, higher consciousness enhances our survival
skills because it relies on insight and wisdom to
make its decision, and its motivation comes from kindness
and compassion. Higher consciousness is flexible, and it
operates on “the ability to let go.”
In contrast, lower consciousness makes its decision based on preferences
(likes and dislikes). It seeks pleasures and avoids
pain; therefore, it has its own prejudices. The ego is
rigid and relies on the ability of “being in control.”
However, the more we try to control everything in life, the more
egotistic we become. So, the ego is suffering from what is known
as being a “control freak.” This creates
immense stress in your life until you learn to “let
go.”
When we’re in higher conscious state, we’re above lower
consciousness, but we can still use the 6 senses: seeing, hearing,
tasting, touching, smelling, and thinking. However, we’re
not under the influence of the ego; therefore, we don’t
experience negative emotions, and it’s not because we’re
suppressing our thoughts.
The reason we don’t experience stress in higher conscious
state is because the mind is content with itself. This contentment
happens because the mind has the ability to let go of stress
at all times. So, there isn’t any burden in the mind.
IF WE DIDN’T HAVE PREFERENCES (LIKES AND DISLIKES), WOULDN’T
LIFE BE BORING? DO WE BECOME SO NEUTRAL TO EVERYTHING THAT WE DON’T
CARE?
Actually, the feeling of boredom is generated by lower consciousness.
Once you’re in higher conscious state, you can never
be bored because you’re in a state of contentment,
joy and true happiness.
When we’re non-judgmental and have no preferences of likes
and dislikes, we actually enjoy everything more because we are without
prejudices. The mind becomes more flexible, and our motivation comes
from kindness and compassion. As the result, we become more
caring and have empathy for everyone.
However, we do abstain from doing harm to ourselves
and to others (mentally and physically).
